When it comes to Northern New Mexican Cooking, Espanola definitely delivers. Here is a list of the top New Mexican restaurants in and around Espanola. They serve dishes prepared with traditional New Mexican recipes and foods. As expected from Northern New Mexican cooking, there are plenty of dishes that feature green chile recipes or “Christmas” for both green and red.

I would be remiss to not mention the world class chile that is found at neighboring Chimayo — “Chimayo Red”. My favorite on this list? La Cocina in Espanola which is very similar to the food that was once served at the widely recognized and iconic Rio Grande Cafe (now closed) which is and always will be my all time favorite New Mexican restaurant.
